Coach Davis has 5+ years in education, 10+ years in the athletic arena, and 15+ years of experience serving communities. He is known for keeping it real with his students and clients. He believes that is a big part of his success and impact in and outside of the classroom. His transparency, training, life experience, success, and failure makes him relatable and keeps his clients eager to learn more. Our Zaki is a sophomore at NHS. He is young, athletic and smart in our opinion. On occasion, we struggle with keeping him focused on what’s most important. Moving to North Carolina and meeting coach Davis was the best thing that could have ever happened to me. Moving to North Carolina from Maryland was a really big, eye opening move for me. Mentally, I was not okay. Back in Maryland I was kicked out of school and faced two serious charges the school had pressed on me. I was homeless. Some nights I didn’t eat. Most nights I did what I had to do to just to get food in my stomach. I was told I was never going to play football again. EVER. I was told I was done. I couldn’t go to alternative school and work my way up because I was labeled as a threat to all schools in the county.
So my family packed all that we had in a 4 door Honda and made the trip down south. I ended up living with my auntie in Clayton North Carolina. We set up an appointment with the Clayton football team head coach and from that day on he was nothing but good to me. We worked things out and I was blessed enough to have the opportunity to play spring football with Clayton High School. After balling out and doing what I do I could not receive any D1 offers because my 40 time was not good enough for the D1 level. But in my eyes that’s all I saw was D1 or nothing. I had division 1 schools wanting to offer me on the spot but I just couldn’t break the time they wanted.
Then one day I got a text from a guy saying “Hey man, you are very exciting to watch. I know I can help you.” It was Coach Davis. Coach really did more than just help me get offers he helped me realize that wherever I go I will be a dominant force and be seen and recognized by the next level which was the NFL. Coach Davis boosted my recruiting process to another level. We talked almost every day, not just about football, about life and what I wanted to do after football. In fact, coach Davis had schools driving all the way to my High School just to get to know me. Moral to the story, I ended up with 5 full ride scholarships to go play the sport I love for the next 4 years of my life. Without Coach Davis I would not be looking at it that way. I would not be thankful to be where I am today.I will forever thank him for how he has helped me overcome some of the obstacles I’ve had to overcome to get here!
